Hey you

Hey you…you reading this blog how are ya? Ohiophotogrl and I would like to know what some of your favorite adventures have been. Drop us a comment. Go back in the archives and check them out.

It’s finally warmed my up here at least for the weekend so we are hoping to get out and about!

Talk with you soon!

Can bubbles freeze

Ohiophotogrl and I have been watching people blow bubbles when it’s really cold out side. Some of the photos are really neat! We thought we would give it a try.

First we mixed our solution.

We used:

1 cup of water

1/4 Cup Of Dawn dish soap

1/8 cup of Karo corn syrup (the clear kind)

Mixed it all up and then let it set on the counter for half an hour. We wanted it wall to be at the same temperature.

Then it was time to test our bubbles. There was very little wind. This is very important to know. Wind will burst our bubbles. It also has to be below 15 degrees. We waited till it was 12 degrees outside. We went on the back porch and turned on our porch light. There is a trash can by the back door so that’s where we aimed the bubbles.

Several bubbles landed and after 3-4 minutes this is what we got

Kinda looks like a doggie if you look in the bubble. We got frozen lines in there but no real cool patterns. The wind started to pick up which causes the bubbles to do this….

It was a fun experiment! Wonder what we’re gonna do next?

What’s for breakfast

Sometimes we like to get up and make breakfast before we start the day. I wait for Ohiophotogrl to wake up and look for recipes on her phone.

This morning I found these eggs. However we are gonna use her new cookware and cook them with very little water. That’s right boiled eggs cooked with just a wet paper towel in the bottom of the pan. Here goes nothin…..

Wetted paper towel and put them in the Kitchen Craft cookware turned the eye in Med heat for 3 minutes.

Spun the lid till it felt like it was gliding. It was making a vaper seal and turned the heat down as low as it would go for 13 minutes. Took the lid off and cracked the shells…..the shells come off very easy! And the eggs….

Perfect! Mmmmmmmm breakfast is served! What are you having?

Happy New Year 2018

I’m still alive and doing well my friends. I know 2017 was a bit quiet but Ohiophotogrl assures me that 2018 will bring more adventure than last year and I will get to tag along! I wrote this up….

She has agreed so be on the look out for more adventure and more quality time with me and Ohiophotogrl!

Trick or Treat

Hey everyone! It’s that time of year again where we get to dress up and go door to door and collect candy! I don’t know about you but I am really excited! I need you all to do me a favor…..please be careful and follow all the safety rules. What are those?

1)make sure you have something reflective on your costume so people driving can see you. 2)always stop at the street and look both ways before crossing the street. 3)listen to whom ever is taking you out. They want you to have fun and be safe as well. 4)only go to house that have the pour here light on, or they are sitting in the driveway. 5)be sure to have someone help you look through your sack of loot when you get home. Anything open throw it away!

I’m sure there are many more rules but those are my top 5 :0) have fun and Happy Halloween!

An Eclipes

Today where I live we had a partial eclipse.

I got some special glasses so I could watch and we made some pinhole boxes to look at the eclipse.

How did the boxes work…

You need a box, some aluminum foil and some tape! You cut two holes on the top. One to look through and one to put aluminum foil on. You take a needle and put a small hole in the aluminum foil. Tape it on and there ya go. Here is a few shots that we got.

It was a lot of fun to watch this. Here is Ohiophotogrl and I enjoying our time

NASA of course got some better shots

But what ever you do don’t look directly at the sun. We don’t want to hear any stories of anyone burning there retina.  We love science!

Walking the beach

As Ohiophotogrl and I were walking the beach we came across a few of these holes. I was pointing this out to Ohiophotogrl when something popped out of the whole.

It was a crab! After my experience earlier in the week I decided to stay clear of him. I’m pretty sure he was just as scared of me as I was of him. There was lots of animal life along the beach.

Did I mention I love the beach!

The water can change you

I spent a lot of time on the beach last week with Ohiophotogrl! We spent a lot of time walking and taking photos. After a few days of enjoying the beachs of Sanibel we went over to Fort Meyers. We went out on the beach there and I started to not feel so well. I walked over to a bench and sat down for a few minutes while Ohiophotogrl went to get me some water. When she came back she had a strange look on her face. It appears I had been bitten by something and started to change…

She rushed me inside so I could look in the mirror

OMG I was turning into a crab. The waitress at the place we stopped for lunch pointed out a sign that we hadn’t seen in the Island anywhere else….

She assured Ohiophotogrl that this happens to potatos in these parts. She said all we had to do was put me back into the water and I’d be fine. This didn’t stop Ohiophotogrl from taking a few more photos though.

As we walked along we found a Restraunt called Pinchers. So I had another photo taken.

Good news is I should be back to normal tomorrow. Which leads me to my next question….wonder what we’re gonna do tomorrow?

Ding Darling

One of the many stops in this trip was to Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. The J. N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is part of the United States National Wildlife Refuge System, located in southwestern Florida, on Sanibel Island in the Gulf of Mexico. It is named for the cartoonist Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling.

There is a museum when you first get there that has lots of cool things inside. (It’s also air conditioned in there :0)

You can touch bones and skins of animals to see what they feel like. You can watch videos on different things that you can see in the refuge and most of all they have this really cool area where you can make something to take home.

Here is an example

We even met some fun people along the way. This is my new friend Monica!

What a fun place to take anyone that likes nature. We really enjoyed this place. After the museum you can drive your car, walk or take a team thru the refuge. There is a very small fee to do this and the wild life you see there is amazing! One other cool thing is check the coupon books that you pick up around the island. There was a coupon for a free reusable water bottle. They have filtered water stations through Sanibel Island. So having someplace to put water in was an added bonus! It’s hot in Florida and staying hydrated is mandatory!

We are having so much Fun! Wonder what we’re gonna do next?

We Are At The Beach!

So I have been a bit busy! We got on a plane and flew to…..wait for it…..Florida! Sanibel Florida to be exact. This was the sunset last night!

We are having some great times! I’ll fill you all I soon! Wifi is hard to find in the Island :0)

Wonder what we’re gonna do next!
