Applesauce

With fall being just a day or two away Ohiophotogrl thought we should make some homemade applesauce. It’s apple season hear in the 937 so we went out to Peifers Orchard for some local grown apples. This batch will be made with just apples, water and lemon juice to start. Then we will add some spices like cinnamon:0)

First thing we To is peel and core the apples

With the Apple peeler in the top photo it cores the Apple at the same time it’s peeling so it makes fast work out of getting the apples ready. Then we throw them in the pan with the water and lemon juice….

But a lid on it and wait for it to get all tender so we can squish it all up for our applesauce.

Then we will can it and it will look like this

12 miles from home

Ohiophotogrl and I went on a little excursion this morning. We went to a little town close to our home called Yellow Springs. The have a field of sunflowers every year about this time. They are beautiful. We forgot to take a photo of us but here are a few from the field…

There were lots of bees which was great to see

There were even a few that haven’t bloomed yet.

The morning was a perfect time to go! Hope you all have a great rest of the week!

Now that funny

So my friend Dallas sent home a calendar for me. With this being July he thought I would find this funny and I do!

The bottom of the photo says Better….or worse. Now you know how I get my eyes checked lol

Where Have I Been

Sorry for disappearing on you. Ohiophotogrl and I have had some crazy times. So much so that I’ve been taking the photos and not being in them. I told her it was crazy but she insisted that I do a blog post about her crazy few weeks. First off we went to the Cincinnati Scotty Friends Convention. She dressed for every event….

She made everyone laugh and have a good time! We spent a week with some good friends! Then we got home and cleaned out the garage! We can fit a car in there now.

Then as we were cleaning the garage we heard a very loud crashing sound from the back yard

Huge tree limb fell! Crazy….Ohiophotogrl was just on her way outback when it happened. Thank God everyone was ok because we had to call someone to come get it out of the yard it was so big.

But now we are back to getting some routine in our lives. Let’s hope that happens soon! Take care and I’ll be back soon!

World A Fair 2018

Tonight we went to the World A Fair in downtown Dayton, Ohio. We sampled many different dishes and met some really neat people.

We met Kim and Tanya from the Montgomery County downtown Library. they shared with us how much the new library has made such a big difference in the community! Thank you ladies for your time and for being ambassadors for library! Then we met Barbara for the Dayton International Peace Museum.

We have added that to the places we want to visit this summer. Thanks Barbara! When we walked in there was a parade of all the nations that were represented, the bagpipers lead the way…

Then we went in and ate our way around the world. Not really we brought a lot of stuff home to eat this weekend. But let me tell ya they had food for everyone there.if you get a chance to go it costs $8.00 at the door the entertainment is free but it does cost to eat. The World A Fair is located in the Convention Center Downtown!

We even met Uncle Sam

Looking for something fun for your room

While out on Friday night we stopped in to a store called Eclectic Essentials.

The owner and his girlfriend were really fun to talk with. We had heard at another store that they have a goat that frequents the store. We had to know. I asked and sure enough they do have a goat and his name is Mr Butters! Here is a photo of him and I.

Mr Butters has a Facebook page and everything. Look up downtownbutters. They are going to let us know when he will be in the shop again and we can’t wait to meet him!

Here is a photo of just some of the cool stuff they have in stock right now. They are located in the Oregon District at 510 E. Fifth St. Tell them Mr P sent ya!

Oh The Places We Do Go

Last night Ohiophotogrl and I went to First Friday in the Oregon District. On the first Friday of every month all the shops are open till 9 or later and there are street performers and people playing music in the street. This month we checked out a place called 416 Dinner.

The have the most wonderful potato twists there that you will ever have! Ohiophotogrl got a grilled cheese that was quite yummy and our pal ScottyScouts got a veggie burger. MMMMM they even have a kids menu.

The place seats about 25-30 people I would guess but the owner came over and talked with us and the waitress did a great job as well. Pretty sure we have a new favorite place.

They have vegetarian options and they have gluten free desserts! You really should go check them out if your in downtown Dayton, Ohio. There actual location is 416 E 5th St.

Here in the 937 we got hit with a few inches of snow last night

It was really bad this morning, but as you can see the roads are now clear. That little spot by my nose…..it’s a resident squirrel. He came down from his nest to get the corn I left him :0)

I am so ready for spring! I ordered some seeds for the garden and they came in the mail yesterday!

This isn’t everything I’m gonna plant but a variety of the things I want to grow. Do you have a Garden? What do you like to plant in your garden? Stay tuned as it gets closer to spring, we will be getting the garden ready and even planting some starters ahead of time! I love to garden! This year we ordered heirloom seeds from http://www.rareseeds.com no gmos. We will be sharing more about this as time goes on!
