One of the many stops in this trip was to Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. The J. N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is part of the United States National Wildlife Refuge System, located in southwestern Florida, on Sanibel Island in the Gulf of Mexico. It is named for the cartoonist Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling.

There is a museum when you first get there that has lots of cool things inside. (It’s also air conditioned in there :0)

You can touch bones and skins of animals to see what they feel like. You can watch videos on different things that you can see in the refuge and most of all they have this really cool area where you can make something to take home.

Here is an example

We even met some fun people along the way. This is my new friend Monica!

What a fun place to take anyone that likes nature. We really enjoyed this place. After the museum you can drive your car, walk or take a team thru the refuge. There is a very small fee to do this and the wild life you see there is amazing! One other cool thing is check the coupon books that you pick up around the island. There was a coupon for a free reusable water bottle. They have filtered water stations through Sanibel Island. So having someplace to put water in was an added bonus! It’s hot in Florida and staying hydrated is mandatory!
We are having so much Fun! Wonder what we’re gonna do next?
