As another winter storm approaches the area, people are wondering when the cold temperatures will come to an end. According to two of Ohio’s furry forecasters, spring is just around the corner.
At Dayton’s Boonshoft Museum on Sunday afternoon, Rosie the groundhog did not see her shadow, signaling an early start to spring.
In Marion, Buckeye Chuck made a similar prediction this morning.
However, the nation’s top groundhog disagreed with his fellow marmots.
At sunrise, Pennsylvania’s Punxsutawney Phil forecasted six more weeks of winter, according to his handlers.
According to legend, if the groundhog sees its shadow on Feb. 2, winter will last another month-and-a-half. If he doesn’t see it, an early spring is on the way.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that it will be an early spring but we are not holding our breath!
