National BFF Day!

Yesterday was National best friend day! Ohiophotogrl and I are BFFS. We do lots of great things together! One of our favorite things to do is watch our Cincinnati Reds sweep a series against the Cardinals. Ohiophotogrl’s aunt is a Cards fan so we have a little rivalry when we play the cards. It’s all in good fun. Who is your favorite team? Whose your best friend?

Look at all that color

Yesterday we went and walked a 5K for “Holi.” What is Holi you ask! Known as the “Festival of Colors,” Holi is a festival celebrating the arrival of spring with bonfires, colored powders, and general mayhem.

This celebration started at 8 am with registration followed by a peaceful meditation among the trees at 9:00AM. Stretched our muscles and hone our balance and breathing at a Yoga in the Park session at 9:15AM. Enjoyed Bollywood music and dance to the beats by DJ Mavi, starting at 9:30AM, And then National Anthems of the United States and India at 9:50am. This is us before..

They got the color ready for us

And then the fun began…

This is our grip at the end of the walk…

We had a great time!

What do you do in a rainy Saturday?

Ohiophotogrl and I woke up to a lot of rain falling here in the 937. We were trying to figure out what to do when she suggested we go to the Dayton Book Expo and support one of our favorite authors.

So we got ready and headed out to Sinclair Commmunity College where the expo was.

We met up with Ohiophotogrl’s best buddies Carol and Darla. Darla is the writer and the one on the right. These expos are great for all age groups. There were books for kids, teens, young adults on practically any genre you could imagine.

We picked up a few books while we were there.  Carol took this photo of Ohiophotogrl and Darla…

We had a great afternoon! Wonder what we’re gonna do next?

Dog show….

So today I went with ohiophotogrl to the rotating Scottish Terrier Dog show. We had so much fun

We saw all kinds of Scotty dogs and the ribbons that they win are amazing

The show is in Wilmington Ohio not far from where we live. They even have an Instagram sign.

We have several friends here that are showing thee dogs. It was so much fun spending time with them.

Time for your meds….

Hey everyone!

Sorry it has been a little while for a blog….Life at our house has been crazy. Ohiophotogrl has not been feeling to well and I have had to take care of her.  I have had to make sure she is eating and taking her meds.  Its a hard job but someone has to do it.

On a side note did you know that you are not suppose to give your medication to other people.  Thats right its a nono! The police station will gladly dispose of your medication if you have old meds or medication you can no longer take.  It must be out of the package but they have a place you can get rid of it without flushing it down the toilet or throwing it away.

Good news she is on the mend and we should be able to get out and enjoy some of this new fall weather!

Thanks for being along for the ride!  More adventures are coming :0)

Family time

20130907-214354.jpgToday Ohiophotogrl and I had to take her sister to the doctor.  She wasn’t feeling so good so we drove her. Doctor gave her some meds and she will be feeling better soon!

Then we had to start prepping for Valentines day.  Ohiophotogrl is going out tonight and I am staying home and watching the dogs.  We are going to have so much fun.  I think we are going to watch a movie.

Ill tell you all about it soon!

Have a great Friday!

What are we gonna do next

Keeping bees

Today Ohiophotgrl and I are at Possum Creek Farm enjoying a talk on bee keeping!

Mike (the bee keeper) is a multi generational bee keeper. He is a fourth generation beekeeper.

What a great talk……

Did you know that there are more than 20,000 species of Wild bees! Thats a lot of bees!

Bees pollinate a third of what we use everyday….even Gas!

Bees live about 60 days. The Queen will live 3-5 years.

Avg bees in a hive is 50,000 mostly lady bees inside and only about 800 male. The drones are the boys. One queen bee in each hive. The queen leaves the hive one time and that is to mate.

Hive tempature is approximately 70 degrees inside. The worker bees do this!

Don’t swat at bees. They just want to work and collect there pollen and water and go back home. You are not pollen. Just walk way from them.

The parks offer lots and lots of great kid/big kid friendly programs!

We are now a lot more knowledgeable about bees :0)

Schools around our area are closed today due to this white stuff that fell from the sky. I took a step or two outside and forgot my jacket….bad idea.

Back inside ohiophotogrl was busy getting out a bowl and some ingredients of some sort. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……..

20140502-131044.jpg

Ohiophotogrl and I are trying to figure out what our next adventure will be…..we have looked on the internet for something close to home, but, the rain just wont let up long enough for us to do anything….that and its getting cold.  Did I mention that the yard looks like we have a pond.

So what is a potato and his best friend to do….
